    Service berry is a shrub or small tree that usually displays several trunks and star-shaped white flowers.  Leaves are 3/4 inch-2 inches long and broad. The bark is gray to brown in color, smooth to slightly cracked.  Twigs are red-brown and slender. The fruit is 1/2 inch diameter and blackish in color. Service berry is a native plant and is found in hardwood forests and also in open areas across the country. Fruits are eaten fresh or made into pies and jams.
